We hope you all had a lovely summer and you and your children are ready for another session at Ardross Primary. I look forward to getting to know you all and working with your children throughout the year. Please don’t hesitate to contact me regarding any issues or worries you may have and if necessary we can arrange an appointment to meet. Telephone 01349 882345 or email Lucinda.email@example.com
We would like to welcome our 4 new Primary 1 pupils and our new P4-7 Teacher, Miss Prentice. We hope they settle in quickly and enjoy school life in Ardross. Please can we request all children have a gym kit (trainers & shorts is sufficient) in school and that all items of clothing, including shoes and jackets, are labelled. This makes life easier all round!!
As always we will try to keep you all up to date with what’s going on in school by way of regular newsletters/dojo/blog etc.
Our day runs from 9am until 2.30pm for P1-3 and 9am until 3pm for P4-7. Please ensure children are collected promptly, especially at 2.30pm when the older class are still working. We understand that sometimes things arise and you may not be on time or arrangements have to change but, if this is the case, please contact the school to let us know please. On occasion staff will be attending meetings outwith school and there may not be anyone available to supervise children.
P1-3 pupils will have gym sessions each Monday and Friday. P4-7 will have gym on Thursdays and a swimming session at Alness Academy Pool on Friday mornings, beginning this Friday, 18th August. Please ensure your child has suitable swimwear and towel. (Please also note that due to swimming times our break-time is 10.15am and lunch at 12noon on Fridays only which is slightly earlier than normal)
Lunches are available from the canteen every day; are free to all P1-3 pupils, and remain at £2.30 per day for all others. All families should have a copy of the school menu (also available on the blog) so children can choose whether to opt for school lunch or bring a packed lunch from home. Please note the following menu changes:-
Week 1 Friday Spaghetti Bolognaise replaces Saucy Meatballs
Week 2 Tuesday Mince & Tatties replaces Chilli & Rice
Week 3 Thursday Cod/Haddock Fish Fingers replaces Salmon Fish Fingers
Week 4 Tuesday Chicken Korma replaces Sweet n Sour Chicken
P7 pupils will receive 4 weeks of guitar tuition from Mike beginning on Thursday, 24th August. This will then be followed by another 4 weeks of drumming for P6/7.
The library van visits the school every 3rd Tuesday and the first visit is scheduled for 29th August. Please can new pupils make sure their enrolment forms are returned and others bring back any books they may have outstanding. All pupils will have access to the van if they wish.
Under government regulations we are not allowed to administer medicines to pupils or allow them to carry them in their bags without written consent. If your child requires any medication whilst at school, please obtain a permission form from the school office. Many thanks.
Parent Council AGM
The next meeting of the Ardross Parent Council will take place in the P4-7 classroom on Tuesday, 22nd August at 7pm and we would like to invite all parents to attend. These meetings are informal and give you all a chance to be involved in your school and the events taking place. We welcome your input and ideas so come along and tell us what you think!
Many of you will already have noticed our lovely new designs in the playground, courtesy of Bam Nuttall and the Fyrish Sub Station. They have also erected the frame of a greenhouse for us in our school garden so we now need your help collecting 2 litre plastic bottles please. We need lots of them so please save them up and deliver anytime to the school office. Thank you!! J
