News Update – 2nd June 2017

Once again we seem to be hurtling through this term at an alarming rate – although we are now all starting to look forward to the summer holidays!  We hope the children all told you what fun we had at Aigas Field Centre on Wednesday, and we were extremely lucky with the weather.  There’s plenty more to fit in before we break up………

Mobile Library

The library van will be at school on Tuesday, 6th June and again on Tuesday, 27th June.  Please ensure any books are returned before we break up for the summer holidays. Thank you.

Summer Picnic

Our annual summer picnic will take place on Wednesday, 7th June and we hope all children will join in.  As with all lunches, this is free to P1-3 and the usual cost of £2.30 for P4-7.  Let’s hope the sun shines!

Cromarty Firth Fisheries Trust

Lynn, from CFFT, will be in school again on Thursday, 8th June, to complete her ‘Mayfly’ topic with the children.  Huge thanks to her for her fabulous lessons.

Sports Day

After both an early break and very early lunch at 11.30am, our annual fayre/sports will be held at school on Friday, 9th June from12noon – we hope to see as many of you as possible!

We would welcome helpers on the day please (any names to the office) and would also ask for donations for our baking stall and tombola please.

P7 Pictures

The North Star have advised us that all P7 “moving up” pictures will appear in the paper week commencing 12th June for anyone interested J

Parent Contact

We hope to see all parents on Wednesday, 14th June, to discuss your child’s progress at school.  Please return the attached form to school by Thursday, 8th June, and we will then issue appointments.  Many thanks.

Vocal Tutor

John Thomson will be in for one more session on Thursday, 15th June with P1-3.  Hopefully he will return next school year.

County Sports

Dingwall Academy is the venue again for the County Sports and we wish our team well.  You will get a separate note if your child will be competing.

Swimming Lessons

Please note there will be NO swimming lessons on 9th June due to our Sports Day.  Swimming will continue on 16th & 23rd for P4-7 pupils.

End of Term Assembly

Our Assembly this year will take place in school on Tuesday, 27th June from 1pm. We would like to invite you all to join us in our prize giving as well as saying Goodbye to our P7 pupils.  Teas/Coffees will be served and school buses will run as normal.  We hope you can all come!

School Trip

Our end of year trip will be to the Highland Wildlife Park at Kincraig on Thursday, 28th June.  Please ensure your child is at school on time as we will leave sharp after registration at 9am.  We will not be returning to school until 5pm, so please arrange to have your child collected from school – there will be no school bus service home.

Pupils require suitable clothing with school jumpers please, good shoes for walking, snack and packed lunch.  Once again, packed lunches are available from Mrs MacDonald if required – free to P1-3 and the usual cost for P4-7 – or you can choose to supply your own.  Please indicate on the attached form if you require a packed lunch from school.  Waterproof jackets/sun cream too please – this is Scotland!!  There is also a shop on site so pupils may take money and will be given the opportunity to have a look round.

New Greenhouse

Fyrish Substation are continuing to work with the school as promised although progress has been slow due to their workload.  They have erected the frame for a new bottle greenhouse in our school garden which we are delighted about.  Please now could we ask that you all save and send in any 2 Litre bottles please to enable us to make this work?  Thank you!!

End of Term

Friday, 30th June will be our last day of term and school will close for the summer holidays at 12noon.  There will be no school lunches that day as Mrs MacDonald is away on a course.  This also means we are unable to supply toast so please provide a morning snack for your child if they require one.  Apologies for any inconvenience caused.

School will re-open on Tuesday, 15th August to all pupils.
