The oyster catchers are back again in our school playground looking for the most awkward place to set up home. Last year it was firstly at our play equipment which meant that the children couldn’t use the swing for some time. Then the oyster catchers decided to lay an egg smack bang in the middle of the sports field, which caused a bit of concern that we would not be able to use the grass area for our sports day.
Today they have laid an egg on the bark area where many a football game is played. The children know not to touch the lovely looking egg, but unfortunately there are a few crows about that have been taking an interest in the oyster catchers. We can but wait and see if a wee chick will appear.
